We Answer Most Common Doubts for Contributors

If you are new to Freepik contributor or thinking of becoming one, maybe there are some questions that will pop up on the way.

Today we are going to clear up the most common doubts contributors have so you can make the most of your experience at Freepik. Keep reading!

1. What is the first step to becoming a Freepik contributor?

The first thing you have to do is to register as a contributor and set up your account. Once you’ve created an account, you need to send us your first 10 resources so our team validates them and you can become a contributor.

Make sure you send your best resources.  Our team will evaluate your content and make sure it meets our quality standards. You have two attempts to show us your true potential!

We recommend you add your professional portfolio. It will help our team have a complete picture of your work and skills and increase the chances of becoming a contributor! So, if you have one (or more), add a link to your portfolio—you can add it anytime from your contributor panel.

2. How can I increase my downloads?

Uploading content frequently and being constant is one of the best ways to gain visibility, hence getting more downloads. Have a look at these tips or read one of the many interviews we have done with our contributors to know their secrets.

It is very important to check what’s going on in the world. Adapting your content strategy to the most relevant events is a great way to increase your downloads. You should also never forget to use the trendy keywords dashboard, where you can see what people is looking for.

3. What type of content should I upload?

Whether you’re a designer or a photographer, there’s room for your content at Freepik. You can upload vectors, photos, and PSD files.

However, before creating and uploading your resources to the panel, make sure all boxes from this list are checked:

  • ✅ Create content that is useful for Freepik users. This will ensure a higher number of downloads and, therefore, more earnings.
  • ✅ Navigate Freepik periodically to see the content we are offering and what works best.
  • ✅ Be up-to-date on the latest trends and users’ demands.

4. Can I use images from Freepik in my designs?

You can use Freepik’s author images as long as they are only included in the previw of your design, but not in the final file.

If you look for inspiration on Freepik, you need to be careful and ensure that your design or photography is genuine.

5. Are tags important when uploading resources to the panel?

Tags and titles (also referred to as metadata) are essential for users to find your content. If your resources are poorly tagged, the chances to obtain downloads are very low

That’s why we can reject your content if it’s not correctly tagged. Right after uploading your resources, you’ll be asked to add or edit the metadata from the “Metadata editor” on the panel.

All steps are specified and we guide you through the process to make it easier for you .

6. Why does the review process take so long?

Our revision process isn’t machine-based. Every resource is reviewed by a professional from our team, ensuring the quality of all images uploaded to our platform. We know that you put a lot of effort into your content and we value it.

At the moment, files could remain in this stage for up to 20 working days. This period, though, can be altered depending on the workload and the number of resources uploaded.

However, we’re working hard on improving the review process and reducing the time your resources spend in the “under revision” section.

7. Why have my resources been rejected?

At Freepik, we value quality over quantity. There are some parameters that you have to bear in mind to meet our quality standards.

First, you have to be aware of some technical requirements that your files must meet depending on the type of resource, whether it’s vectors, photos, or PSD. To understand better the reasons for rejections, have a look at the guidelines we’ve posted before to avoid rejections:

8. How am I getting paid, and how often?

Payments always correspond to the downloads registered until two months earlier. For instance, in March we pay the earnings accumulated for the downloads until the end of January, in May we pay the earnings accumulated for the downloads until the end of March, etc.

You must keep in mind that invoices will be generated 2 months after you reached the minimum amount required (50 USD/EUR if you have Payoneer as the payment method, 100 USD/EUR if you have Paypal).

  • Invoice generation:  each month on the 4th
  • Invoice validation: each month between the 4th and the 9th
  • Invoice payment: each month between the 10th and the 15th
