What’s going on in February
Our eyes are already set on the early moments of 2024. After going through January’s most essential events, now it’s time to take a look at what awaits us in February. Grab pen and paper – these are the most important days you should keep in mind for your future creations.
Black History Month – 1 February – 28 February
After commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day back in January, we also celebrate the fight and achievement of the Afro-American people during this second month of the year. There are 4 primary colors that take the spotlight within this important event: red, representing all the blood shed for the Black people’s liberation. Green symbolizes African Nature. Yellow serves as a reminder of positivity and optimism, and black is the main color of the Afro-American community.
The black fist has also become vital to represent the fight and unity for Afro-American civil rights, especially after the events following George Floyd’s murder and the Black Lives Matter movement. Don’t forget to include the black fist in your creations.
World Cancer Day – 4 February
We also celebrate the fight against cancer during the first week of February. The goal of this day is to raise awareness of the prevention, detection, and treatment of this disease. Patients and medical and research professionals are this event’s main protagonists, but you can also include infographics, ribbons, or design elements that can represent hope.
Carnival – 9 February
Every year, February dresses up in different costumes to celebrate Carnival worldwide. From Rio de Janeiro to Venice, stopping by New Orleans’ Mardi Gras, embark on a colorful and bright journey and let thousands of costumes fill up your creations.
Chinese New Year – 10 February
Just a month after the rest of the world greets 2024, the Chinese culture celebrates its own New Year. Traditional street dances, fireworks, and red, lots of red, are the main elements you should include in your designs. Don’t forget that 2024 marks the year of the Dragon, one of the most important and iconic creatures in Chinese culture, so make it the protagonist of your creations.
Valentine’s Day – 14 February
Valentine’s Day has turned February into the most romantic month of the year. Millions of couples celebrate this day with flowers, love letters, or gifts. Join them and celebrate love in all shapes and colors through photographs, postcards, designs, and symbols. Red, pink, and hearts will be the main protagonists of your creations.
