We Sat Down with Freepik Ambassador and Contributor Prakasit
We at Freepik felt honoured to have the opportunity to sit down with professional photographer Prakasit. Not only is he a longtime contributor at Freepik but also our first company ambassador. He will be represented the company and what it stands for in our first company conference in Thailand. What’s more, he has also founded the Facebook Freepik Contributor Thailand Group which provides invaluable advice to fellow contributors. Here he talks about how his motivations for photography started as well as some tips on how he takes his vast range of compelling photographs.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where do you live? What do you do in your spare time?
Hello everybody, my name is Prakasit Khunsuwan or Johnstocker. I live in Buiram, Thailand with my family and have opened a small studio there. I love music and photography. Before being a serious photographer I was a singer. Now, I take photos and travel across the country with my wife. This is due to my love of travel and taking photos. Whenever my friends and I have free time we enjoy taking photos together.
When did you first start taking photographs? Were you always passionate about photography?
Before I had an opportunity to dabble in the stock photography business I was an amateur photographer. When I encountered stock photography in 2012 it inspired me to become a professional photographer. Now stock photography is my life, I have divided my stock photo work from my personal work. Some photos are strongly retouched using my imagination so that they can be accepted by microstock agencies. Others are made for my personal memory and happiness.

How did you become interested in photography? When did you start working in the industry?
Whenever I had free time I was always taking photographs and creating new work and techniques to improve my skills. Furthermore, from 2013 I wanted to get more experience to share my knowledge with others.
Tell us about your portfolio: Approximately how many photo compilations have you created throughout your career? What style are you most comfortable working in? Where do you find the inspiration for your work?
Currently, I have around 40,000 online photos. I prefer lifestyle because it shows people’s feelings through photos. I, however, have varied experience from food to still life. Now I have just started taking photos of different beauty and fashion styles. My inspiration comes from everywhere around me. I love to browse photos via social media to get ideas, inspiration for tones and to develop my work.
What advice or tips would you give anyone starting out as a photographer?
Before becoming a photographer, I recommend that you learn about composition, light, and shadow in order to strengthen your skills. As well improving your knowledge of programs such as Lightroom and Photoshop is beneficial. It is best not to take photos without any knowledge or experience because then you will be stuck with a lot of photos that cannot be improved in the future. Thus, the more you study and practice, the higher quality of work you will have. After that, you can find your preferred style.

What made you decide to work with microstock platforms?
Freepik contacted me, but I was hesitant at first because I mistakenly thought that it was just a site where people can use your work freely without copyright protection. And what advice would you give people who are thinking about getting involved with microstock platforms?
