Be Inspired with our Photography Contributor Tirachard’s Top Tips

Tirachard has been a much-valued contributor here at Freepik with his dynamic range of photographs. Here in this interview, he explains how his passion for photography started and as to why Freepik is the perfect place for him.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where do you live? What do you do in your spare time?

My name is Tirachard Kumtanom, I’m a former engineer who loves photography just as much as I  love myself. I come from Thailand and live in the capital Bangkok. As aforementioned, I used to work as an engineer for a steel company in Thailand but my favorite hobby, which I always pursued in my free time, was photography and I had a dream to turn this hobby into a career. Today I have achieved this by becoming a full-time photographer with a great passion for my work. Other than taking photos I also love to play football and if I have time I never forget to travel to freshen my mind and find inspiration for my future work.

I first fell in love with landscape and cityscape type of pictures. Even after four years have passed my passion has never dropped but instead increased every day.

When did you first start taking photographs? Were you always passionate about photography?

I started photography four years ago. I first fell in love with landscape and cityscape type of pictures. Even after four years have passed my passion has never dropped but instead increased every day.

How did you become interested in photography? When did you start working in the industry?

Throughout my life, one of my favorite pastimes was to record what I have seen in this wide world using pictures to gather all of my experiences and memories. So I started work in the industry 3 years ago with Shutterstock and during that time it was still a hobby type job, however, things have now changed and I’m fully working as a photographer.

Tell us about your portfolio: Approximately how many photo compilations have you created throughout your career? What style are you most comfortable working in? Where do you find the inspiration for your work?

I have been interested in photography for so long. Since I started to work in microstock 3 years ago. I have more than 3,000 pictures already published in my portfolio.I love working with backgrounds and tabletops where I can express my imagination. I have also become quite passionate about lifestyle and still life photography and am always happy and motivated when I see my product in the global media.

What advice or tips would you give anyone starting out as a photographer?

If you are in love with photography, I would give the tip to find a photographer you like, study on how they get their pictures, and make them an inspiration to build up your own style and also don’t be afraid to take photos with that style, good or bad, embrace it and improve yourself  every minute you’re with your camera.

I got the great news that Freepik is open to those who are interested in being a contributor, I didn’t hesitate to join because I saw an opportunity in customer accessibility and I also loved Freepik’s business model.

What made you decide to work with microstock platforms?

People always feel happy if they can work in what they love doing but at the end of the day, people cannot survive if it doesn’t make them money. So I can’t deny that I started working with microstock because of the suitable return. Yet as well as the money I can work on what I love doing most and can see how global media uses my work for their material. This is the biggest benefit of turning my hobby into a job and I can get suitable money in return.
