Get to Know Our Ambassador from Bangladesh

We’re proud to introduce you to our Ambassador in Bangladesh, Nazmus Sakib.

Sakib is a graphic designer who turned his passion into a career and created a small startup, Xvect, which currently runs along with four colleagues. We had the chance to chat with him about his career as a graphic designer, the advantages of sharing his designs and the profitability of working with Freepik.

Sakib became Freepik Contributor Ambassador in Bangladesh very recently and is willing to help and answer any questions you may have regarding our contributor program. So, if you live in Bangladesh and want to share your designs and make some money at the same time, visit our Facebook group. He also organizes offline events for contributors, like the upcoming Freepik Meetup that will take place on April 13th.

Tell us a little bit about yourself? Where are you from and do you have any hobbies?

Hello everyone, I am Sakib and I am 23 years old. I come from a remote village of Bangladesh, still untouched by technological development, although I’m currently living in the capital. My passion for design led me to set up Xvect, a startup I got off the ground with four teammates. When I’m not designing, I enjoy eating and trying tasty food (especially when I am sad). I also like to explore new places, cycling and help people who are struggling to survive.

What made you originally want to become a designer?

Actually, it was really tough for me at the beginning since I went through a really challenging time when I lost my father at an early age. However, I always wanted to study something related to art and creativity, that’s why after obtaining my diploma in graphic design at the Graphic Art Institute, I managed to overcome adversity and I decided to pursue a career in Graphic Design.

How would you describe your style? Where do you find inspiration and ideas for new designs?

Well, I don’t follow a specific style. I work with different designs, which are intended for the web, print, Powerpoint, etc., and the styles I use are also different. However, if I had to choose, I like minimal and clean designs. Besides that, I get inspiration from my old designs, although, as a general rule, I like to get ideas by looking around me and paying attention to every little detail. I think it’s a really effective way to obtain great design ideas.

What pieces of work are you most proud of and why?

I work with a small team, so I haven’t designed all the works included in my portfolio. There is a vertical social banner of four slides which I like very much, though. I think this is a quite simple and useful design and anyone can use it.

Has your work evolved since your first started designing and how?

Yes. When I first started designing, the results weren’t really good. It isn’t easy to succeed in your first design and I had to learn a lot of new topics and stuff about designs. However, with patience and practice, I gradually learned to design nicely and started my career within the microstock world.

What tips would you give to budding designers?

Always love your work and trust yourself. Find out what kind of design you like the most and keep working on that. Don’t worry about adversity, since today’s unwavering commitment to your work will take you one day to the highest peak of success.

Why did you want to work with microstock agencies?

I’ve been working with microstock from the very beginning. I wanted to stimulate my creativity and it’s great because I feel absolutely free to do this here. The best part is that I can always make money from it, even when I go somewhere else. I can even sleep at nights and still make money. A fixed income also motivates me to work in microstock, it’s like a monthly salary to me.

What made you want to become a contributor at Freepik? What are the benefits of uploading your work?

I’ve always used Freepik resources, in fact, I thought it would be great if my designs were in Freepik. But I didn’t know I could upload them to the platform at that time. One day, I found out about the Freepik Contributor, I opened an account and uploaded the first 20 files. Although there are other microstock agencies, I still continue working with Freepik, because not only can you make good money but also millions of visitors access your designs. And for me, this is paramount.

What advice do you have for designers who want to become contributors at Freepik?

There are many people who become contributors at Freepik, but many of them are more interested in earning money than providing quality designs. Thus, I recommend you to think about your work instead. If you focus on the quality and upload content to the platform regularly, I am sure you will earn money easily. I am also the founder of Freepik’s Bangladesh Group and I always try to help and answer questions, so I invite you to join our group if you are interested.  I intend to organize seminars and workshops on Freepik in Bangladesh soon, and I hope to see you there!

Why would you recommend using Freepik and how has it benefited your work?

You can find the most amazing resources on Freepik, and the best part is that millions of them are free. That’s why I think Freepik is a great platform to share your work. The more downloads of your product, the more you can earn. The number of downloads depends on the quality of your files so make sure you upload your quality designs regularly to make more money!
